It’s clear that there are a multitude of intelligences. Developmental Psychologist Howard Gardner states that there are precisely 9 different types: Logical, Mathematical, Linguistic, Bodily, Musical, Naturalist, Interpersonal, Intra-personal, Spatial and Existential. These are the foundations of personality.

Howard Gardner quantifies Musical Intelligence as “the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone.” It’s more than simple discernment; there’s emotion at work—connective strings between (otherwise illiterate) feelings and the aural information around us. Genre defying violinist Damien Escobar describes this phenomenon through the reverberating affects of his childhood: being both the youngest student to have ever attended Juilliard at the age of 9 and finding inspiration on the subways of New York City.
