Study of Dimensional Travels
It is no mistake that Marie Heléne’s sculptures resemble doorways. Constructed from twisted metal and organic materials such as stone, each form acts as a potential passageway (into new aesthetics, new ways of conceiving shapes, and new frames of mind). In this series, photographer Cary Fagan recasts this work within an endless desert landscape. A traveler wanders through purgatory. In each photograph, he passes through one portal after another, gradually shedding his past life and beginning anew.
